Downtown Hollywood Mural Project from JessyNite on Vimeo.

Here it is!  The official video from the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project I worked on last November.  All footage was shot and edited by the talented Peter Vahan and I could not be happier with how it came out!  Special thanks to 131 Projects for animating my titles...I have always wanted to see that!  I can't wait to make more.  Enjoy and video and share it with your friends!!!

NFA'S WRECKHALL: Rudy Duboue Collabo 1

For the last few weeks, I have been working on a special little project for the boys over at NFA.  Their new weekly party, WRECKHALL at Chalk, has become the best spot on the beach to catch good local vibes with my favorite local DJs (Keen One, Louie Arson and TonyG).

Every week my friend, the incredibly talented Rudy Duboue, has been snapping candid party shots that are so sick I started to draw them for the flyers (check out the pary pics here).  I pick my favorite image from the previous week and freak it on some Jessy Nite Tropical steez for the flyers.  Here are the ones I've done so far:

Check out Rudy's incredible fashion work on his blog here and come out to the party this and EVERY THURSDAY NIGHT at Chalk: 1234 Washington Ave!  Going Out Is Fun Again!!!

UNDER THE SCOPE: the main event!

Here are some pics from my fully interactive, experiential installation for Basel week 2012, Under The Scope.  Being stationed on Washington Avenue was really cool...we had so many passers-by stop to play!  Annnd, since South Beach is my home, it was great to do something on this side of the bridge.  Take a look at these shots from Peter Vahan, and stay tuned for a behind-the-scenes video coming soon!!!

A big huge thank you to everyone who came out and gave the scope a spin!  Also, major props to William Ryan Fritch for his original soundtrack that accompanied the piece, and to my tech genius, Alain Lores.  I am lucky to call them both friends and colleagues, and each of their contributions made my idea come to life in the most amazing way.  But most of all, mega thanks to everyone at Chalk Miami who believed in this idea and made it all possible!!!

HOLLYHOOD SCOPE: paintings series

Hollyhood Scope - 1, 2 and 3....9 in x 11 in, Acrylic on Paper

To commemorate the official completion of my contribution to the Downtown Hollywood Mural Project, I have released a small series of jeweled paintings!  Just three in the series, each piece is a finely detailed kaleidoscopic composition made from the same original drawing as that on the building.

I wanted to make something easy to hang and easy to live with (unlike a lot of my mega installations haha).  Framed and measuring 9 in x 11 in, I have to say these are three of my best pieces to date...they are so suuuuper clean that people keep asking if they're prints.  They're not!  They're just done with a lotttta luv.  So go to the webstore and get em while you can!

And keep up the kaleidoscoping vibezzzzz by coming to my interactive, multi media installation for Basel this year: Under The Scope.  Details here...

UNDER THE SCOPE: Miami Art Basel 2012

Miami-based artist Jessy Nite has forged a reputation for creating site-specific experiences that challenge and inspire viewers.  Launching during Miami’s fair week on Thursday, December 6 at 9:00 p.m. at 1234 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, her latest show Under The Scope will again offer a window into Nite’s world of opulence, excess, addiction and tropical dreams.

"I've been painting kaleidoscopic images of things that cloud my head... wealth, excess, vice,” said Nite.  “With Under The Scope, I wanted to go beyond showing their representations and toward making them feel real."

A large kaleidoscope revealing the objects of Nite’s affection will be affixed to the sidewalk on Washington at 12th Street, inviting guests to take it for a spin.  With live video and projection mapping, the user will be immersed in the visuals of the scope as they’re broadcasted on one of Miami Beach's historic Art Deco buildings.

Nite explains, "I want people to feel powerful and dreamy when they use my kaleidoscope.  With giant swirling compositions of jewels, drugs and color, they’ll be entering the imaginary world from which I create.”

Following an explosive year with exhibitions and installations at Primary Projects, the Color Me Porno pop-up, Miami Modern Luxury’s 5th Anniversary and most recently, a City Commission by Hollywood’s Community Redevelopment Agency, Under the Scope is Nite's first step into the digital side of experiential contemporary art.  "My work as a digital art director has brought so many talented tech specialists into my creative space, and I have been plotting interactive art experiences with them in mind.  I'm excited for this opportunity to leap into a new medium."

Under the Scope opens with full interactivity on Thursday, December 6 from 9pm-3am, with complimentary cocktails and a reception hosted by Chalk Miami and NFA.  Live video from the event will be captured and displayed on site both Friday and Saturday night, December 7 and 8 from 9pm-5am.

UPCOMING: Downtown Hollywood Mural Project

Starting this month (October 2012) I will be a featured artist in the new Downtown Hollywood Mural Project!  Lebo kicked it off in August, and Ruben Ubiera has been cranking his piece out for September, and finally THIS WEEKEND I will get to start mine!  Read about it here.

The building at 1901 Harrsion Street is the most beautiful space to work with, so I put together a site specific execution of my colorful, kaleidoscoping diamonds and bold black and white lines to complement the corner of the historic downtown block.  I used to work around the corner from the building years ago, so I am really looking forward to getting back into the Hollywood funkkkk!

To commemorate the building, I will be releasing a series of small acrylic on paper pieces that will be available through my webstore on October 20th, the same night that I will be painting during the Downtown Hollywood Artwalk.  So, come on out and follow me on Instagram @JessyNite for process photos, progress and all of the craziness inbetween!

I will keep you posted about the event on the 20th!  CANT WAIT TO PAINT...WOOP WOOOOOP!

COLOR ME PORNO PLAYHOUSE: the opening!!!

(some of the girls before the coloring....and me after FINALLY finishing the install)

well well well wellll welllllllll...you guys have certainly outdone yourselves this time!!!  Jesus!  I just want to extend a really huge THANK YOU to everyone who came out to support the show on Friday! Man...that was just too much fucking fun!

Seeing everyone color the girls, lifting each other up for the dirty werd search, and get totally shitty drunk was so amazing.  My goal was to create an environment that turned my artwork into a fun, horny, drunken, debaucherous evening of interactivity, and I think it definitely worked!  The shit that everyone drew was SO awesome and hilarious, I could've never thought of that stuff myself.

There was a point in the night when, after stepping out for about 45 mins to spoke a joint, the party had officially reached "the next level" once I returned...crayons ground into the floor, people writing on the ceiling, air ducts, window, wood floor, couches, and anything else they could reach.  It was absolutely fucking crazy.  I loved it so much...

I will be photographing the space properly this week, but in the meantime, check out these flicks from the opening.  We will be opening the space for the Aftermath Viewing on FRIDAY, JULY 27th from 9-1am.  Erick Sermon will be spinning live, so DEFINITELY don't miss it!!!!!!!

(Miami Local PUCHO blessed me with this little section...pure magic)

(getting upppppp!)

(me getting so drunk, the camera even saw blurry)

(some dirty werd search action)

(i luv dis part)

Bad as I Wanna Be | A Solo Exhibit of NEW Works from Jessy Nite | Opening Reception, Saturday, February 11, 2012 | 7 – 11 PM

Private Collectors Preview | Friday, February 10, 2012 | 6 – 9 PM | rsvp@primaryprojectspace.com

As the opening exhibition of the 2012 season, Primary PROJECTS presents Jessy Nite’s first Miami-based solo exhibition ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’, an outspoken series of multimedia works evoking the spirit of rebellion, determination, success, luxury and gender identity from a pointedly feminine perspective.

Wielding brash confidence and overt sexuality as her metaphoric weaponry, Nite’s practice follows a lineage of groundbreaking female artists who have relayed their personal experiences within patriarchal paradigms (both within and outside the realm of contemporary art-making) loudly and not without explicit, often scandalous terminology. Nite relays her observations through a gritty, street-inspired lens revealing the aspirations and inherent limitations of the drive to win and win big. Holding fast to the live fast, die young’ spirit of pink rock and clandestine urban culture, Nite’s typographic work and multimedia installations are made for those who throw caution to the wind and fearlessly, publicly flaunt their creative (sometimes self-destructive) powers. Phrases and words reflecting Nite’s own brash, shameless confidence and street-wise swagger act as both a draw and defense: they are warning signs to those who fail to meet Nite’s own ruthless work ethic, but also a battle cry for all those who measure up.

A highlight of Nite’s prolific series of sculptures, print works and installations include a series of words, associated with Nite’s brash aesthetic: Paid (spelled out with hot pink jewels), Waster (pushing out of the wall in mirrored splinters) and Disappear Here (threaded through with boldly colored string). The exhibition’s centerpiece will feature a full-size bed, where visitors are invited to lie down and see the words ‘Bad As I Wanna Be’ hover over them in wild cursive letters. Customized jewelry pieces (ready-to-wear),
